The title compound, [PtCl₂(C₁₅H₂₀N₂S)], was synthesized from the reaction between N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC)-thio­ether ligand and potassium tetra­chloro­platinate. In the crystal, the mol­ecules are linked via C—H⋯Cl and C—H⋯π inter­actions, forming a layer parallel to the ab plane.

The Ba^II atom in the polymeric title compound, [Ba(C₂H₆OS)(C₆H₂N₃O₇)₂], lies on a mirror plane and is coordinated by ten oxygen atoms, two of which stem from symmetry-related DMSO ligands and eight from four symmetry-related picrate anions.

At 1.782 (2) Å, the Si—N bond is substanti­ally longer than is found in comparable (3,5-di­methyl­pyrazol­yl)silanes. The tri­methyl­silyl group adopts a staggered conformation with respect to the planar 3,5-di­methyl­pyrazolyl unit. C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds between neighboring mol­ecules form a strand of mol­ecules along the b-axis direction.

The cations in the title salt show π-stacking. The chloride anions, together with the water mol­ecules, form hydrogen-bonded zigzag chains.
