Cover illustration: (4-Aminopyridine-[kappa]N1)(2,2'-bipyridine-[kappa]2N,N')(2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-[kappa]3N,N',N'')ruthenium(II) bis(hexafluoridophosphate) crystallizes with one dicationic Ru complex, two PF6- anions, and undefined solvent in the asymmetric unit. The cation and anions are linked via N-H...F hydrogen bonding. The complex was explored previously to determine the impact of pyridine substitution on molecular excited states. The crystal structure of the title compound comprises a [Ta6I12(H2O)6]2+ unit, two I counter-anions and four water molecules of crystallization. The charge-assisted crystal packing is consolidated by hydrogen bonds.

The ruthenium dication and hexafluoridophosphate anions of the title salt are linked by N—H⋯F hydrogen bonds at the amino group of the substituted pyridine ring. The Ru—N bond lengths show the expected range.

In the title chalcone derivative, the cyclohexanone ring adopts a distorted half-chair conformation and the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 52.20 (15)°. In the crystal, weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into C(12) [001] chains.

In the crystal, molecules of the title compound, C24H20N2O4·H2O, form twisted planes parallel to (011). Water molecules donate O—H⋯O and accept N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming helical arrangements.
