Cover illustration: (2R,4S,5S)-5-Meth­oxy-4-methyl-3-oxohept-6-en-2-yl benzoate was synthesized in the course of the total synthesis of fusaequisin A in order to verify and confirm the configurations of the stereogenic centers and to exclude the possibility of epimerization during the methyl­ation process. The absolute configuration was determined by anomalous dispersion and agrees with the configuration of the allylic alcohol used in the synthesis. The phase Al20Mn5.37Ni1.31 in the ternary system Al–Mn–Ni system was synthesized by high-temperature sinter­ing and its crystal structure has been refined from single-crystal X-ray data.

The title compound, (NH4)4[W2(C10H12N2O8)O6]·4H2O, is a binuclear complex of tungsten with the edta4− ligand bridging two WO3 units, leading to a distorted octa­hedral coordination environment for the tungsten atoms. The supra­molecular crystal structure is built up by the anion, four ammonium cations and four solvent water mol­ecules and is established via hydrogen bonds of the N—H⋯O and O—H⋯O type.

In the title compound, the dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the amino­pentenone fragment mean plane (C=C—N—C=O) is 76.91 (19)°. In the crystal, a water mol­ecules are connected with the N-naphthyl­pent-3-en-2-one mol­ecules by O—H⋯O-type hydrogen bonds.
