Cover illustration: A new zirconium(IV) complex, [Zr(QCa)2(H2O)2]·2DMF, with 8-hydroxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid (HQCaH) was prepared and characterized. The ZrIV atom in this mononuclear complex is octacoordinated by two QCa2− ligands and two aqua ligands. The complex and the HQCaH ligand showed low anticancer activity with IC50 > 200 µM. On the other hand, the complex intercalates in CT DNA and also interacts with HSA. See Harmošová, Vilková, Kello, Smolko, Samol'ová & Šebová [Acta Cryst. (2023), C79, 316–323].

Two cadmium tri-tert-butoxysilanethiolates with 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyl)piperazine were obtained from identical molar ratios of reagents in different solvents. The structures of the complexes have a direct impact on their spectral properties, as well as their antifungal properties.

The title Schiff base was synthesized by the reaction of 2-amino-4-methylphenol with 4-methoxynaphthalene-1-carbaldehyde in a 1:1 ratio. The compound exhibits significant anticorrosion properties for iron and copper.
