LaTeX template

The IUCr Journals LaTeX template and associated class and style files may be used to produce documents in a simple preprint style suitable for submission and review purposes.

The complete package is available as a zip archive:

Documentation in the template package assumes a working knowledge of LaTeX.

  • The file template.tex should be used as a template for writing your article. It outlines the general structure of an article and contains a few notes about the IUCr custom macros.

  • The file iucrjournals.cls contains a minimal set of macros to define content and apply formatting. It requires a small selection of packages from standard TeXLive distributions. If you wish to use additional packages, please reference them in your article tex file (template.tex) and please only use packages included in standard TeXLive distributions in order to avoid compilation problems during the submission process.

  • Commands for formatting a bibliography with BibTeX are in the file iucr.bst. Use of BibTeX and iucr.bst is the recommended way to include references in your article, applying the style required by IUCr Journals (using harvard.sty).

If you are new to LaTeX, you can find many guides and tutorials online, including free tools that enable you to explore LaTeX without having to install anything on your own systems (see e.g. learnlatex.org, overleaf.org, papeeria.com, among others).
