Comparison of frequency map analysis (FMA) shows that the quasi-third-order achromat scheme (bottom) has better performance than a similarly optimized lattice that uses no particular cancellation scheme. The FMA for the quasi-achromat shows far fewer resonance lines, which is generally indicative of a better solution. The frequency maps are evaluated at locations in the two lattices where the beta functions are roughly equivalent.
